Today has been one of those good days in which I like the life I’m living right now. I’ve had so few of these kind of days that I feel I need changes in the way I’m living, but the changes I have in mind tend to be a bit destructive, so that’s out of question. Three things happened today: I got to talk with one of the girls at work thanks to the few people that came to the Plaza, and that made me happy in several ways, especially because of the fact that this led to the second thing. I was wrong again, and I like to be wrong in this matter specifically; the first impression I get from people is usually a bad one, and they always surprise me and show me they are far better than I imagined them to be; in one sentence “I have issues”. The third thing is still in the making, so I’ll be brief about it and just say the following: if you go after what you want for long enough you won’t necessarily get it, but, if you do get it, you’ll feel awesome; just like me.

Killing me, killing you

There comes a time when you live with a person under the same roof long enough to get to know a side he or she never revealed before, and it’s not always good. Pressure can make most people lose their calmness, and I’m no exception, but some burst in a greater manner. I’m no saint, I know that and I’m sure the ones that have been reading me know that too, so here I go with a confession: I’m not doing a thing to prevent one of my roommates from becoming a bomb, but actually feeding the fire that will eventually lead him/her to explode. I’m not letting this happen because of any ill-intentioned nature, but because I’m a time bomb myself, and pressure makes me less patient with people (and patience is one of the few things I have in big quantities). He/she’s been acting way selfishly, and I’ve been letting him/her be that way because I understand his/her situation, but things have gotten out of hand, and I feel I have to correct them, not because I’m obliged to, but because I won’t stand it anymore. Drastic measures will be taken.

On the road to freedom

Yesterday’s movie, which I totally forgot to tell about, was my next stop in my little adventure. After visiting the science center, I walked all the way to the city of Pittsburgh, I crossed the Andy Warhol Bridge (which reminded me to visit Andy Warhol’s Museum another day) and waited for the next bus to come by and take to the Waterworks Mall, not far away from the hotel and a place I’m getting to know very well. I got there a little late, so I had to choose a movie that already had started but not for much, all because I didn’t want to come out so late of the theater and get to the hotel at night (well, past seven o’clock).
The movie was called>, about a man that aged backwardly. The film made me cry a bit during some scenes, I admit it, and I liked it so much not because of its strength (strong in the sense that it went right through me) but because it had a sort of hidden message in between the lines of the central theme, an idea I had found in another movie (>), one that changed my life dramatically. I’m talking about traveling, meeting new people, living all kind of experiences, touching the hearts of others, leaving “a grain of sand” as I usually say.
I came out of the theater with a smile on my face, knowing the whole trip was a greater idea than the one I thought it would be when I first came out with it. I’m planning a next little adventure for next week; I still don’t know where I want to go this time.

Another steps towards greatness
Some days ago I decided to change my usual routine and add a little bit of adventure or something like that, so I planned to go to the Carnegie Science Center and to the movies. A lonely soul as I tend to be from time to time, I hopped on the bus by myself and took the first steps towards finding the meaning of my life. I had a map of the area and one of the bus routes, my cell-phone and enough money to fly myself to the hotel if circumstances seemed not to be turn out well; fortunately, they did. I walked for half an hour from the bus stop to the science center, not without making twists and turns here and there in search for the place, which didn’t actually appear on the map, and I got to see some amazing sites and take photos of just about everything that came in my way.
When I finally got there I felt accomplished, but after a couple of hours of wandering through the science center, I started to feel those fourteen dollars I had paid for the visit were spent in vain. Luckily, I was in a pretty good mood so, optimistic as I am, I told myself the trip made me get lost the way I like to get lost, and it made me get out of the hotel in which I spent every single day, and helped get to know more of the city place I’m currently living in. Also, the attractions weren’t that bad, it’s just that they are made especially for kids; I didn’t care much, but my inner child had a blast.

Esta vez va en serio

Yesterday was a great start of the New Year in several ways, but not in others. I got to talk a little more with the most beautiful girl I’ve seen ever since I stepped on this country (and maybe the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen in my life; couldn’t say for sure). Also, I had no problems with the register, and were able to speak more with my coworkers and soon to be friends (although I cannot be sure of this either; one can’t push this kind of things). My thirty-minutes break seemed to last longer than usual, although my working hours did too. The second most memorable thing that happened is related to one of the girls that flew from Peru like me, whom passed out minutes after she got to work at night; worst of all is that I was the only person with which she could feel some sort of familiarity because of the language, so I stayed with her until her friend came. I was a bit scared, but it turned out to be sort of an eating disorder, or so the paramedics said. Strange way to start the year, but (selfish as I tend to be from time to time) I still think the most amazing thing that happened concerns the girl I talked about at the start of this post; hopefully, there’ll be more to write about her in the future. This year’s resolution: I’ll stop drinking sodas and star working out again (in other words, I’ll be more constant).

A sin like no other
People worry too much about their weight, and I’m included, although I still eat like there’s no tomorrow. One of life pleasures, according to me, is food, and maybe not the one they serve in this country, but I love it, and (as obvious or as redundant it may sound) I couldn’t live without it. My friends worry too much, they eat less every day, and sometimes they don’t eat at all, so it’s becoming a bigger problem than they’ll be able to handle in the future. I, on the other hand, have another problem: I eat without measure, sometimes not because hungry but because I just want to eat something. Fortunately, I do exercises almost every day, so I burn some of the calories, and soon I’ll be going out during the mornings to jog a little as a way to compensate the fact that I have no bicycle. I think this is actually the biggest of my problems, not having the chance to do what I was born to do, ride like a maniac until the end of my days. But, then again…
